vote.jpg

it's ELECTION DAY!  hope you're out there voting your little heart out.

and on election day when we are voting for change, i've also decided to make a change in my own life and go on strike.  not from work or anything but from people.  kinda.  ok, one of my big time pet-peeves are friends who never initiate get togethers and those who also never respond to my invitation to do something.  if i took the time to suggest we hang out, and you don't wanna hang out, i get the point and will move on.  but please don't call me 2 weeks after i've deleted your number from my phone to apologize and say you were SO busy, and ask if i can plan something for next week.  if no one died, got fired, got seriously injured, or some other major life blip, then that is bullsh-t and unacceptable.  a 1 line text with the word "reschedule?" preferably within a 72 hr period would be more than suffice.  if in your professional life, you don't call your clients 2 weeks after they've left you a vmsg, then you maybe shouldn't do that in your personal life with your friends.

yes, i throw a mean party.  yes, i love seeing my friends.  yes, i can usually pick out a perfectly good restaurant/lounge/activity to hit up and to hang out at.  but damnit, it would be nice if every once in a while i didn't have to play party-planner.  the next 3 events i have are going to be nice for that very reason.  i get invited, and i just show up.  no planning, reserving, following up involved.  do people think i have nothing better to do than plan brunch?  lately, if certainly feels that way.

so i've decided, no more planning for the next 3 weeks.  while that may very well mean that i will be doing practically nothing social for the next 3 weeks, tough shit.  i'm on strike.  grr!

來Xanga工作! 招聘紐約地區的實習生!

ok, i just logged on and see this on my homepage.  wtf.  how did they know i was Chinese?  is it my stupid profile picture?!  is there some kind of profiling going on here?!  and shit, i can't even read most of it.  case in point:

Lai
Xanga gong zuo - trans:  work for xanga.  the next part goes jie something something something di qu de shi xi sheng!  trans:  WHAT - i have no freaking idea??!)

Can someone kindly translate?

I digress.  Happy Monday, folks.  we are officially 24 hrs away from meeting our 44th president.  CRAZY!  i am a little tired of seeing McCain and Obama's pictures on everything... and I think like our candidates, most of us are pretty exhausted w/all the campaigning.  geez, wonder how much those guys have slept in the last month.  may the best man for the job win.

in a more serious note...
Madelyn Dunham - 1922-2008.
This is for my peoples who lost their grandmothers
Lift your head to the sky 'cause we will never say bye.
- Mariah Carey, "Bye Bye"

and moving back to the lighter side of things...

nc-m is cool.  i have quasi-adopted him as my mascot for what's right in the world, and men.

i'm getting invited to an HOA party tomorrow prior to the Madonna concert.  very cool.  think, the bling bling version of a hosted tailgate party (like when your company reserves a skybox), except, should we choose, we get to watch whatever is going down at Petco from the balcony
.  I KNOW!  the perks of having nice digs.  at least they know where their HOA fees are going... booze and "heavy hors d'oeuvres" - nice!

k - time for me to get ready for bed.

http://msp144.photobucket.com/albums/r183/hottgojugirl/MISS%20YOU/miss_you.jpg

wow - happy belated halloween and happy belated i'm-slowly-rediscovering-xanga-again.  how did 2 years go by?!  thanks to mnicholson for linking the world to this page, which i happened to cross and go... oh yeaaaaaa, i used to have a xanga page!  hope you, winnie, and the s2000 are still cool.  message me sometime... i think i have lost your aim sn (that is if you're still on there!)

xangers... are you folks still around or have you and everyone else you know migrated to Facebook?  my friends have called, harassed, and threatened to end friendships if i don't join.  i guess i remain hesitant b/c i know these things are addicting, and somehow i count myself lucky after managing to dodge a bullet and not join myspace.  so i guess, seeing how myspace is fizzling, i guess i'm just waiting it out to see if Facebook actually survives the hype before i commit.  i will be the first to tell you i have commitment issues.

so geez, let's get caught up.  what's new with you in the last 2 years since i've dropped off of xanga?

on my end, among other things... S moved to HK (lucky girl!!), D is getting royally educated in Scotland, N moved to the UK, the cousins and fam are still in Hawaii, and i'm still in SD.  M disappointed the hell out of me a few weeks back and we are momentarily not on speaking terms but doesn't know it yet.  Madonna's in town for her sweet & sticky tour in 2 days and C and I are going to drink bubbly and revisit our inner material girls.  i have managed to graduate (again) and am moving in 3.5 weeks.  we are going to have a new president in 2 days.   oh yea, and i'm madly in love with Gossip Girl and S&B&D&C&N are my favorite upper eastsiders.

k - now you're mostly caught up.  hope life is well with you... and i guess i will write more later.  getting hungry and going to head into the kitchen and make myself some katsu.  yummmm.

xanga and friends, i've missed you.  but i'm back.

OH, and if you didn't do absentee already, you better be planning to rock the vote on Tuesday.  or else.

2 months of no xanga and i come back to find a whole new format!  wow.  so summer was ridiculously fun and busy, and i barely felt like i could breathe with all the friends, work, partying, family & travelling and trying to fit it all in without busting at my seams!  it was a freaking blast and possibly one of the best summers yet!

since school has started, things have been crazy, crazy, crazy.  I have not yet found my rhythm, but hoping that i'll find it soon.  it's been 3 weeks, and it's felt like 3 months.  i think i've made about 9 meetings, met 3 deadlines, enjoyed loads of work, new 1Ls (so cute and naieve), happy hours, driving, interviews, and 1 friday evening (so far) enjoyed at the library.  BUT - i had a nice little retreat to LA this weekend (mini-weekend) and folks - this is the craziness of 2 days in LA... encapsulated in 1 little picture.  to borrow a little of Vegas' great marketing campaign... what happens in LA, stays in LA.  and i'll leave you to your imagination!
