it's ELECTION DAY! hope you're out there voting your little heart out. and on election day when we are voting for change, i've also decided to make a change in my own life and go on strike. not from work or anything but from people. kinda. ok, one of my big time pet-peeves are friends who never initiate get togethers and those who also never respond to my invitation to do something. if i took the time to suggest we hang out, and you don't wanna hang out, i get the point and will move on. but please don't call me 2 weeks after i've deleted your number from my phone to apologize and say you were SO busy, and ask if i can plan something for next week. if no one died, got fired, got seriously injured, or some other major life blip, then that is bullsh-t and unacceptable. a 1 line text with the word "reschedule?" preferably within a 72 hr period would be more than suffice. if in your professional life, you don't call your clients 2 weeks after they've left you a vmsg, then you maybe shouldn't do that in your personal life with your friends. yes, i throw a mean party. yes, i love seeing my friends. yes, i can usually pick out a perfectly good restaurant/lounge/activity to hit up and to hang out at. but damnit, it would be nice if every once in a while i didn't have to play party-planner. the next 3 events i have are going to be nice for that very reason. i get invited, and i just show up. no planning, reserving, following up involved. do people think i have nothing better to do than plan brunch? lately, if certainly feels that way. so i've decided, no more planning for the next 3 weeks. while that may very well mean that i will be doing practically nothing social for the next 3 weeks, tough shit. i'm on strike. grr!
